  4. The Windows 95 Support Assistant version 1.0a was originally released to
  5. some Windows 95 Beta testers as the Windows 95 Care Package. The Support
  6. Assistant boasts a new look and much more content.
  7.  
  8. When you install the Support Assistant in Windows 95, it uses the online
  9. Help search engine in Windows 95 to let you navigate among topics easily.

  11. The Support Assistant Files
  12. ---------------------------

  14. Assist.cnt   - The Support Assistant Help contents file. This file allows 
  15.                the use of the Windows 95 Contents page.
  16. Assist.hlp   - The main Support Assistant Help file. This is the only 
  17.                file required for use in Windows 3.x and Windows for 
  18.                Workgroups 3.1x.
  19. Assist.ico   - Icon for the Support Assistant.
  20. Hcl.hlp      - Windows 95 Hardware Compatibility List.  This file is produced
  21.                by the Windows 95 Development Team.
  22. Readme.txt   - This file.
  23. Win95app.hlp - Windows 95 Application Compatibility List.  This file is produced
  24.                by the Windows 95 Development Team.

  29. Windows 95:

  31. When you install the Support Assistant in the Windows\HELP folder, you can
  32. easily jump, or switch to, other online Help files. If you specify a
  33. different folder, you may receive the following error message when you jump
  34. to a different Help file topic:

  36.    Cannot find the Windows.hlp file
  37.  
  38. If a program or driver replaces a Windows 95 Help file, you may encounter
  39. problems when you jump to another Help file topic. For example, the text
  40. of the topic may be incorrect or the topic may not exist. Both the
  41. Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 2.0 and the Microsoft IntelliType
  42. software version 1.1 replace Windows 95 Help files.

  45. Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups:

  47. The Support Assistant installs files in a folder called Assist. If you
  48. try to jump to a Windows 95 Help topic, you may receive one of the
  49. following error messages:

  55.  - Cannot open Help file
